"WARped" by Zé Pereira

WARped by Zé Pereira

An exhibition of illustrations/ Uma exposição de ilustrações

Zé Pereira began his career as a freelance illustrator while in high school back in his hometown, Funchal. In the beginning, drawing was not a big part of his future, but eventually caved in and gave up on his other goals to fully dedicate himself to illustration, changing universities to study Drawing in Lisbon, Portugal. Now, most of his clients are musicians, blogs, magazines and fanzines. He is supplying them with illustrations, which are a mix between traditional and digital drawing techniques.

"Sentinels" by Pamela Benporath

Sentinels by Pamela Benporath

DURBAN HARBOUR, Ethekwini, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

29°52'0" S : 31°1'0" E

This body of work explores the view from my studio, looking out over the 4th largest harbour in the Southern Hemisphere, operating 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day, handling over 30 million tons of cargo a year, from about 4500 commercial vessels per year* - it never sleeps!

Despite this bustling activity and never ending action in the harbor, it and the city come across almost docile and silent. The ever-changing weather, light, atmosphere, clouds, sunrises and sunsets offers a lifetime’s worth of opportunities for sketching and painting this one subject. I look forward to seeing how this body of work develops.

As Lágrimas das Flores | Tears of Flowers by Hanamaro Chaki Opening 1 April at 11a.m. - 1p.m.

As Lágrimas das Flores | Tears of Flowers

by Hanamaro Chaki

Exposicao de pintura e desenho | Exhibition of paintings and drawings

"Tears falling"

Hanamaro e a artista nascida no Toquio. Reside e trabalha no Funchal, Madeira.

Hanamaro is a Tokyo-born artist. She lives and works in Funchal, Madeira. She is showing her new work at RESTOCK Gallery in Funchal.
Hanamaro Chaki’s work is captivating both in her way and in her ability to reflect the obsessive and passionate spirit of human beings.
Her drawings emerge from a delicate stroke but they grow and expand confidently with gestures that are guided by unique oneiric power. In her paintings you find that line and color balance in harmony.

Flowers by Jennie Castle

Jennie Castle works from ‘an Speir Studios’ - her home studio, set in the rural Irish landscape of Carrickmourne, Thomastown, in County Kilkenny. The studio space occupies the restored 200-year-old stone farm cottage, which forms part of a small courtyard with its stone outbuildings.
Jennie has a background training in architecture and fine art from South Africa and works in different mediums. These include oil painting, mosaics and ceramics. On show are a series of ‘Flowers’ – a combination of ceramic artworks and print artworks. The ceramic artworks comprise of imprints of fresh flowers, pressed into white earthenware clay. The imprints are enhanced with a bit of line drawing and then coloured with a black ceramic stain. These are fired, and then a clear glaze is applied and then re-fired to create a gloss finish. The artist is currently working on a series of hand-printed artworks of orchids, inspired by living in Africa and visits to Madeira over the years. These works are created by layering hand-drawn mono prints and linocut prints in an attempt to capture the elusive and intriguing qualities of these exotic flowers.

We still have works available. Please contact us for details or come and visit the gallery.
